I have been writing a lot about online backup software and have almost mentioned it as free. I would like to clearly the meaning of free online backup software. If you look at services like mozy or idrive, they all have a free solution if you are a private user and only have a small amount of data to backup. The limit is often 2 gigabytes but there are online backup software out there that will give you 5 or even 10 gigabytes of free space for your files. If you later require more space, there is always the option to upgrade your account and pay for the service. This usually means unlimited space and better service. If you are a private user, the cost of
online backup software is very low ($4 a month) and easily compared to all offline backup solutions. The benefits are many and there are only few disadvantages (none for most).
